Project Need
Across the state, nearly 600 rural primary schools lack electricity connections; in some districts, up to 80% of Utkrisht Primary Schools are not connected to the grid. In addition, many schools face challenges in paying for electricity even after being connected. By providing these schools with solar power, we decrease the cost of rural grid connections and ensure that schools can sustainably pay for electricity moving forward.
Without electrified schools, schoolchildren cannot access the pre-requisites of a 21st century, nor are teachers able to utilize projectors, smartboards, computers, or even internet-connected phones as teaching aids. In fact, without electricity - such basic amenities such as water filters, telephones, and fans are unavailble, reducing comfort for students and posting attractiveness for teachers.
