ICT infrastructure will empower students and enable teachers to provide individualized and student-centric learning.

Project Description

This project aims to create one Digital Classroom in every Adarsh school in Rajasthan. By utilizing tablets, computers, Internet, and online learning resources, students will have increased access to technology and innovative learning programs such as Khan Academy, Project Gutenberg, and TED Talks.

 

The components of a Digital Classroom are:

  1. A laptop (for the teacher)
  2. 40  learning tablets
  3. Interactive Board
  4. Projector
  5. Headphones
  6. Charging Cabinet
  7. Server
  8. Internet & Router

 

While technology on its own is not guaranteed to produce positive learning outcomes, with teachers and principals trained in its usage and having ownership over technology integration can allow a Digital Classroom to reach its potential. Therefore, one teacher in each school will undergo induction for 1 day induction to be able to use and manage the technology. They will also learn how to deliver lessons using the technology. This teacher will then share this knowledge with other school staff and support ICT adoption across the school.

Project Outcomes

Through various studies across the globe, integrating ICT into the classroom has proven to:

  1. Increase learning levels, particularly in language acquisition (such as English), mathematics, and science.
  2. Increase digital literacy.
  3. Reduction in dropout rate.
  4. Individualized instruction.

Project Need

  1. Digital Literacy. Many children in India lack the digital literacy skills that will be the key to a rapidly modernizing economy. These skills are not only important in terms of access to different professional opportunities, but are also critical in allowing students to utilize various online resources and further their studies.
  2. Catering to all Learning Levels. Technology in the classroom also offers personalized instruction to meet the child where they are at academically. This means that a classroom filled with learners of different levels can all receive relevant and helpful lessons that address their needs in an engaging way.
  3. Need for Internet Access. Furthermore, Internet reaches about 31% of India’s population–and roughly 19% in rural areas. By providing a WiFi connection in the school, the students’ increased access to technology can further benefit the wider community.

Implementation Plan

Once the project is funded for Government Implementation, these will be the deliverables on the part of the government:-

 ●        Procurement. Installation, and testing of equipment for Digital Classroom.

 ●        One day induction to manage and administer the setup.

 ●        Monitoring and reporting student engagement through a dashboard. This report will be provided to CSR entity/donor on demand.

Project Case Study

In Rajasthan, Sr. Secondary School Devgaon, Bassi ( Jaipur) has a digital classroom which has been in use for 2 years. Apart from contributing to the digital literacy of students, it also allowed for students who did not have a Biology teacher at their school, to learn remotely from a teacher at a different school.
